Tummy Tuck Surgery Recovery
The tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a body-contouring procedure that typically involves a combination of surgical techniques. The procedure can be performed in a variety of ways and to various degrees in terms of scope. The duration of the tummy tuck recovery period will largely be dependent on the specifics of the surgical techniques utilized.
Generally, the surgery itself can take anywhere from two to six hours. Once completed and once the sedation has worn off, the patient is discharged to go home and begin the tummy tuck recovery phase. The patient should expect some swelling, bruising and moderate but manageable pain. Strenuous activity or heavy lifting should be avoided for at least a month after the procedure.
