18 Jan Microblading: An Eyebrow Tattoo Technique That Changes Lives
Thin, sparse brows are a thing of the past, and for those who have been guilty of over-plucking their eyebrows, or for those who unfortunately have naturally thin or light brows, microblading is a fantastic way to achieve bold, natural-looking brows. Finally, freedom from the daily chore of drawing on your eyebrows.
How Is Microblading Performed?
Eyebrow Microblading is essentially a form of tattooing, however, rather than using an electric tattoo gun to implant pigment into the skin, technicians use a hand-held tool that has a very thin blade in order to draw hair like strokes onto the skin. This is in contrast to the pigment implanted into the skin as deep as with regular tattoos, which ensures the strokes don’t become overly dark or harsh.
Additionally, microblading is semi-permanent. Results tend to last up to three years and it is advised to have touch-ups once every six months. However, semi-permanent means that if in a few years you’d like to return to your natural brows, or that perhaps you’d like to adjust the shape of the brows, you can simply wait for the pigment to fade and have a redo.
Microblading Eyebrow Tattoo Recovery
Recovery from Microblading is usually quick and without complications. It takes around 7 to 14 days for the skin to completely heal, during which time you must avoid getting the brows wet or applying makeup to the area in order to allow the incisions to scab over and heal. Because the incisions are very small and superficial, scabbing is barely noticeable but can cause a little itching and redness. It’s also important to note that the brows will look darker than expected to begin with, which may take some getting used to. However, the color tends to fade by up to 30 or 40 percent over the following weeks, and long-term results will be very natural.
Microblading Is About Communication
Microblading technicians often block off up to two hours for the procedure, which allows for plenty of time to talk through your requirements and to draw in the shape of the brows with a removable pencil. This allows you to be assured that you will be completely happy with the shape, size, and placement of the brows before any permanent pigment is used.
