20 Jun Harper’s Bazaar Gets “Cheeky”
Cheekbone Augmentations
A recent article in Plastic Surgery News talked about some recent news exposure that magazine Harper’s Bazaar covered. Apparently the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) posted recent stats about cheekbone augmentations. These numbers caught the attention of editors at Harper’s Bazaar. The article pointed out that the tried and true formula for cheek augmentation in woman is still various injectable fillers. However, fillers are not permanent and women have to go through the process of re-injecting these products on a regular basis if they want to maintain the same look. The advantage of cheekbone augmentations with implantable devices, is that it’s a one and done procedure. No longer will the patients need to visit their plastic surgeon offices for repeat injections.
The American Society of Plastic Surgery stats about the increasing rates were referenced and Society members Sam Rizk, MD, and Michael Yaremchuk, MD were quoted on the benefits of cheek implants.
“Implants today are more natural looking. In the past three years, we have been able to use computer imaging to take a scan of someone’s skeleton, see the inadequacies, and then make implants that are a custom fit. It’s bespoke plastic surgery.”
No longer do patients need to a cookie cutter approach to their surgery. This article points out the specific approach one can take with implantable facial procedures but the same approach can be taken with other types of procedures as well. Surgery can, and should, be tailored to the specific circumstances and needs of the patients. Dr. Parson is an expert at this type of approach. He will meet with each patient and listen to the patient’s goals and concerns prior to embarking on a surgical plan that is specifically constructed for that patient.
