22 Mar A Cosmetic Surgeon’s Photos are Worth 1,000 Words
Of course it’s critical for your cosmetic surgeon to be board-certified, experienced, and have oodles of positive reviews—but that doesn’t tell you if you’re going to get the results you want. Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center features a gallery of countless before and after photos because we’re proud of what we do, our patients love their results, and we’re sure you’ll love yours, too!
There’s only so much that reading up on a surgeon or cosmetic surgery can do before it all starts to sound the same. Does analyzing the differences between saline and silicone breast implants really give you the information you want? Is it answering the burning questions like, “Will my results look natural?” “Will I be able to wear a swimsuit with confidence?” “Am I really going to feel comfortable when I take off my bra and get intimate?”
If you want to get these questions answered, sometimes the best approach is the simplest. Take a look at some photos.
Your Cosmetic Surgeon’s Skill in a Snapshot
Once you start looking at various cosmetic surgeon’s photo galleries, you’ll start to see some themes emerge. For example, if you’re considering breast augmentation, does it seem like all of the after photos are the same? There are certainly trends when it comes to breast implants, but every after photo being identical is a sign that this surgery isn’t getting customized.
Look for individualization in the before and after photos. This means your cosmetic surgeon will need to have a large gallery—and they certainly should if they have the experience you deserve and want in a doctor! Find before photos that resemble your body and see what kind of results can be achieved. This will give you an idea of what you might be able to expect, but bear in mind that what the patient asked for might not be what you have in mind.
Red Flags with Cosmetic Surgery Photo Galleries
In today’s digital world, there’s no excuse for a cosmetic surgeon not having an ample amount of before and after photos. If they have a small gallery (or no gallery at all), it’s for one of two reasons. Maybe they are so new that they simply haven’t performed enough procedures yet to have a sizeable gallery. That’s no fault of their own, but you probably don’t want to trust your results to such a new surgeon. Experience matters just as much as skill.
The other reason a cosmetic surgeon might not have a gallery is because they aren’t proud of their work. That’s the biggest red flag of all. No matter how many surgeries they’ve performed, they should be eager to show off their results. If they aren’t, they’re hiding something. You deserve to work with a surgeon who is transparent, proud of their work, and who has performed enough of the procedures you’re interested in to offer an impressive gallery.
Beyond the Cosmetic Surgeon Gallery
A before and after gallery is a big part of choosing a surgeon, but you don’t want to only depend on the gallery to make your decision. Just like you check off a surgeon being board-certified, the gallery should be another item in your “must have” checklist. Once you’ve found a surgeon whose gallery aligns with what you’re looking for, the next step is a consultation.
Your consultation is a time to get all your questions answered, learn the intricacies of your surgery, and see if you connect with the surgeon. A good connection is important because you’re trusting this professional with your well-being and results. This is a moment to really tap into your gut feeling, because your instincts are going to ultimately tell you who the right surgeon is for you. A gallery is a great guide, but don’t overlook that sixth sense that’s going to come into play during your consultation.
