24 Oct Combination Treatments Perfect for Autumn
Two is better than one when it comes to combination treatments. Parson Skin Center has all the treatments you need to take your look to the next level. For example, microneedling and HydraFacial is the perfect couple, complementing one another so you get the most of each treatment. Microneedling should always come first because it creates micro-channels in the skin that won’t be open for long. This is a decades-old treatment for collagen induction that can also be used as a precursor for treatments—like HydraFacial—that bathe the skin in topicals.
A HydraFacial is a 3-in-1 facial that exfoliates the skin, extracts debris from pores, and washes the face in hand-picked medical-grade skin care products. It takes just 30 minutes and requires no downtime, making it a popular monthly treat or the go-to option for a big evening event. However, when you precede a HydraFacial with microneedling, you’re allowing the third step of the HydraFacial to go even deeper. Medical-grade products do a phenomenal job, but they can work even better if 1) there are micro-channels in the skin allowing for deeper tissue access, 2) the skin is exfoliated so no dead skin cells get in the way, and 3) pores are cleared out so the products can really do their job.
Pairing Surgical and Non-Surgical Treatments
We offer both surgical and non-surgical options, and it’s often wise to mix and match between these worlds, too. One great example is a facelift paired with fillers. A facelift by Dr. Parson trims away excess skin, addresses underlying tissues that also reveal signs of aging, and then “re-drapes” the skin so that you look 10+ years younger (on average). Today’s facelift techniques ensure a virtually zero-scar outcome with incisions even for a full facelift expertly hidden in ear crevices and within the hairline. This means every facelift is a “ponytail facelift!”
However, skin laxity is just one obvious sign of aging. A loss of volume, particularly in the face, can also give away your age. In fact, slender patients often find that “just” a facelift leaves them looking hollow. This is bound to happen when there is minimal “good fat” in the face and then skin is tightened. Facial fillers are the way to combat this, and they can be injected shortly after healing from a facelift (to ensure swelling from surgery does not get in the way).
Most facial fillers are made with synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA) and can last anywhere from 6 – 12 months on average. There are different dermal fillers to be used in every part of the face including the cheeks, below the eyes, lips, temples, and jawline. There are also “fillers” like Sculptra that don’t provide immediate results. Instead, they work like collagen induction therapy, allowing results to reveal themselves in the weeks post-injection. Sculptra results last up to two years, making it a popular choice for a semi-permanent look.
The Eyes Have It (and More)
Eyelid therapy, also known as blepharoplasty, can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both. Getting both at the same time is a popular combination treatment in itself, but you can also add on options like a chemical peel in order to further improve the skin’s appearance. Remember that a surgery that removes excess skin does that and only that. If you have other concerns, such as sun damage, that won’t be addressed with any surgery.
Chemical peels come in a range of depths, with the most common being light and medium peels. A peel following an eyelid lift can remove any lingering signs of aging while revealing younger-looking skin below the surface. Thanks to the high vascularity around the eyes, all treatments in this area tend to heal very quickly—most clients look “back to normal” after eyelid surgery in about 10 days. This means you won’t have to wait long after blepharoplasty for a chemical peel.
