Dr. Parson uses various options depending on the patients needs. We offer oral medication, Anti-inflammatories and patients can also choose from an intercoastal pain block (we use Exparel; which is an additional charge).

Yes, a small drain was placed in the space where the implant had been located. These drains can typically be removed within 2-5 days.
Yes, you can certainly have your implants back if you DO NOT send them to Pathology. If you request them back, they will be sanitized and given back to patient within a week of surgery. If you decide to send them to pathology they will be tested and unavailable from that point forward.
Yes, you will have a compression wrap which will be placed over a sports bra that Dr. Parson we will provide.
Pathology testing fees are directly tied into your insurance. Since we do not take insurance, these fees will be separate and will depend on each individuals own insurance plan and deductible. Please check with your individual insurance carrier for specific pricing.
Patients are able to have all tissue tested for pathology. We are able to do gross pathology testing on the capsule. We are also able to do cultures for mold, yeast, fungus, and bacteria from the capsule itself.
Dr. Parson likes to see his patients 2-3 days after surgery.
Usually, there is no exercise or lifting 20+ pounds for about 3 weeks. As your recovery and follow-ups continue, Dr. Parson will help to better gauge the timeframe of increased physical activity.
Dr. Parson always takes pictures of the implants and the capsules. These photos are uploaded into your TouchMD file which you will have immediate access to following her surgery.
Dr. Parson only does a lymph node inspection if the implants have been ruptured or there is clear evidence of lymph node enlargement preoperatively.
Yes, our consultation fee is $150. This amount will be applied toward your explant surgery if you so choose to book one.
Yes, you can share any information you want. We adhere to strict HIPPA compliance and do not share any photos or information without patient consent.
Unless you are over the age of 55 or have pre-existing medical conditions he will not need preoperative lab work to be done.
Terminology is very important and in September 2023, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Society published this paper to explain the terminology difference between en bloc and total capsulectomy, and when the term “en bloc” should be used. Therefore, unless there is malignancy found within the capsule, we refer to the removal of the implant, with the capsule in place, as total capsulectomy. You can read the full article here.
