Already Tired of Shaving Season? We’ve Got You Covered With GentleMax Pro

Tried laser hair reduction before and it just … didn’t … work? That’s because you were either matched with the wrong laser or it was before the era of technology strong enough to drastically reduce unwanted hair. Parson Skin Center exclusively offers the Candela GentleMax Pro for laser hair reduction (and a lot of other skin concerns!) because it is safe and it really works. The ideal candidate should still be targeting darker hair, but with this laser ALL skin tones and types can benefit. So, what exactly is this laser and what does it do?

GentleMax Pro is a dual-platform laser from industry leader Syneron Candela. It uses both a 755nm Alexandrite laser and a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser, which means it can treat more conditions and more skin types than a singular platform laser. In addition to reducing unwanted hair, it can also treat keratosis and sun spots, minimize sun damage, and reduce facial redness including the one caused by broken blood vessels. It can even be used as a skin tightening tool.

Do You Need Laser Hair Reduction?

Most people would enjoy less time shaving, waxing, tweezing, and all those other methods of getting rid of unwanted hair—especially now that summer is around the corner. In winter months, it’s easy to hide armpits, legs, arms, and necks under long sleeves and pants, but now you’re probably breaking out the razor. Did you know that both men and women spend over an entire month of their life shaving? That’s around the clock, 24/7. If you were offered the opportunity to get an extra 30+ days of life, would you take it? Now you can.

Note that laser hair reduction is not laser hair removal. The only permanent way to get rid of hair is through a years-long process of painful electrolysis. This method works, but it is so time consuming that you don’t actually end up getting any time back. Laser hair reduction is quick, easy, and requires just a handful of sessions for optimal results. Every session begins with a topical numbing cream application (20 – 30 minutes) followed by the actual procedure that can be anywhere from 10 – 60 minutes depending on the treatment site(s).

What to Expect with Laser Hair Reduction

Most clients who opt for laser hair reduction with GentleMax Pro require just 4 – 6 treatments for the best results. You can always schedule maintenance sessions in future months or years to keep that smooth skin. Some patients find that they can stop shaving or waxing altogether, while others prefer a quick shave every couple of weeks for optimal smoothness. GentleMax Pro lives up to its name, especially when paired with a topical numbing cream, so you can expect a comfortable appointment and no downtime.

There might be some redness right after the treatment, so plan accordingly (i.e. if you have a big event in the evening, you might not want to schedule your laser hair reduction for that ‘stache on the same day). However, cool compresses can help with redness and you can expect these very temporary side effects to quickly dissipate.

Making the Most of GentleMax Pro

Of course, you can also choose to use GentleMax Pro for more than one of its benefits at one appointment. Want to reduce hair while also minimize hyperpigmentation? Sure thing. Get rid of hair while also tightening the skin? Totally doable. Like a lot of lasers in the Parson Skin Center suite, GentleMax Pro is a multi-tasker. You’ll start to see results right away, so you don’t have to wait long to enjoy the benefits of laser hair reduction.

Spring is the perfect time to start laser hair reduction so that you can enjoy most of the perks by summer’s ends. Exactly how many treatments you will need will be determined during your consultation or appointment. However, do know that the hair follicle needs to be intact for any laser hair treatment (or electrolysis!) to work. This means you can’t plan to treat just-waxed or -tweezed areas. Shaving is okay, and very short hair (stubble) is ideal. Think of it as like getting ready for a waxing session where you need to have some hair if you want to vanquish it.
