25 Oct Look Smarter with Breast Implants
It’s well-known that larger breasts can be a serious boost to your self-esteem, letting you confidently wear whatever you like (or nothing at all). It’s one of the reasons breast augmentation has been one of the most popular surgical procedures at Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center for years with no signs of slowing down. However, did you know that studies have also linked larger breasts to a higher intelligence?
This isn’t to say that breast implants will actually make anyone smarter, but since larger breasts are scientifically shown to signify a higher intelligence, this means that breast augmentation can be a means of looking smarter! A study at the University of Chicago analyzed 1,200 women who were placed into groups based on breast size. The women also underwent an IQ test. The results showed that those with larger breasts scored ten points higher on average compared to their smaller-chested counterparts.
Busting Old Myths
A few decades ago, it was wrongly assumed that women with larger breasts were less intelligent in some circles (this was largely in the 1980s and 1990s, making it a relatively small blip in the long history of associating breast shape and size with a host of other qualities). These days, larger breasts are more often associated with feminine power. However, the study itself simply presented information and did not dig deeper.
Some have since speculated that hormones play a role both in breast development and mental prowess. Much more needs to be done to figure out why exactly women with bigger breasts seem to be more intelligent, but for now consider this tidbit yet another bonus of undergoing breast augmentation.
Choices for Breast Implants
Breast implants are the only way to achieve larger, more symmetrical, and shapelier breasts permanently. Today, there are many ways to customize breast implants including selecting the material, size, shape, and placements of both the breast implants themselves and the incisions. There is a current trend toward smaller, more natural-looking teardrop-shaped breasts—but after seeing this study some might be more inclined to go a bit bigger.
There are also a number of factors that determine your natural breast size and shape, with both genetics and weight playing significant roles. There’s only so much a person can do to naturally change the size of their breasts, and if you’ve struggled to be confident when going bra-less, in swimsuits, or with plunging necklines a breast augmentation might be just what you need.
The Perfect Time for Breast Implants
Breast augmentation is a major surgery that requires downtime. Most women get fully back to their daily routines six weeks post-op and are able of undertaking sedentary work just a few days after surgery. However, full healing takes around 4 – 6 months and incision scars will continue to improve (lighten and flatten) several months after the surgery. You can opt for a breast augmentation any time of the year, but autumn is ideal.
You can heal under the comfort of sweatshirts and cardigans, looking forward to the first beach trip of the spring where you will be significantly healed and able to show off results. Considering the natural and necessary fashion of the cooler months, for surgeries like breast augmentation, it’s always best to undergo surgery in the autumn so that you can maximize your healing time.
Is Breast Augmentation for You?
Most women who are thinking about breast augmentation have thought about it for quite some time. There was a surgery boom during the COVID-19 pandemic as patients took advantage of working from home and social distancing, and as we enter what appears to be Delta peak you now have a second chance to make use of this time. Plastic surgery is not slowing down, which means appointments are booking fast.
The first step for any cosmetic surgery is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified expert. Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center is accepting consultation appointments for breast augmentation and other favorite procedures including liposuction (which can complement breast augmentation in some cases, such as for those who also have bra bulge) and tummy tucks. If you’d like to step up your game next spring, contact Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center today via phone or the online contact form to take the first step.
