06 Jan Gains in 30 Minutes with Emsculpt
Building muscle and getting toned was tough enough before the pandemic—but now, when you rightly find it unsafe to go to gyms (even when they are open!), it’s nearly impossible. That’s why Parson Skin Center offers Emsculpt, an innovative and non-invasive technology that forces your muscles to get bigger and stronger while you sit back and relax.
Emsculpt is simultaneously very straightforward and ingenious. As you know, it’s very difficult, time consuming, expensive, and often risky to try to get bigger muscles through old-fashioned strength training. Actually, getting and keeping muscle mass can be a full-time job (just ask a body builder). One wrong move and you could seriously tear a muscle that keeps you not only from weight training for weeks or months, but even performing daily tasks!
However, what you might not know is the very clear manner in which muscle gains happen. The technical term is muscle hypertrophy, and muscles get bigger when they experience just the right amount of stress to create tiny micro-tears in the muscle fibers. These aren’t the serious, painful tears that can put you on the bench. Instead, these tears are just small enough that they tell the muscles they need to get stronger to withstand the trauma if it happens again. The muscle responds by creating a type of scar tissue—and that repair is what makes the muscles stronger.
But what if you could make the muscles do just that without having to lift a finger?
How Emsculpt Works
As long as the muscles you want to tone or enlarge are undergoing micro tears, you’re going to see results. This can happen with a dumbbell or an Emsculpt session. Emsculpt forces the muscles you want—and only those muscles—into an astonishing 20,000 supramaximal contractions in just 30 minutes. Those kinds of contractions are the ideal contractions to cause micro tears and, in turn, muscle growth. Performing 20,000 bicep curls, crunches, squats, or other activity is impossible, and definitely not feasible in 30 minutes. However, Emsculpt can do it, and all you have to do is relax and reap the rewards.
However, you do have to keep a few things in mind. Just like a gym workout, your muscles are going to demand protein if you want them to repair themselves (i.e. get bigger and stronger). Make sure you bring a protein-rich snack to enjoy immediately after your Emsculpt sessions. This will help optimize your results.
Also similar to a gym session, you can definitely count on being sore the days following Emsculpt. Delayed muscular onset soreness, or DOMS, will happen when the muscles get worked out no matter how it happened. You can decrease soreness by sipping on BCAA-infused water right before, during, and after Emsculpt.
When to Expect Results from Body Toning
You won’t see results right after a weight-training session, and you’re not going to see results immediately after an Emsculpt session either—but don’t worry. Emsculpt is authentically building muscle mass, and muscles need time to repair and grow. Most clients initially opt for 4 – 6 Emsculpt sessions spread a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every six months or so. This gives muscles time to repair. You may start to see some results one month after your first session, but full results are typically seen about six months after that first series of sessions.
Unlike a gym workout, Emsculpt allows you to work out only the muscles you want to grow. It doesn’t engage stabilizer or helper muscles nearby, unlike what happens when you perform a deadlift. This is fantastic for those who are super picky about their results and, for example, only want to work out the biceps and triceps—not their forearm muscles. However, this is also a reminder that Emsculpt is not a replacement for fitness and workouts. Rather, it’s a serious booster that complements a healthy lifestyle. It can help you bust through plateaus, make up for lost gym time in the past few months, or kick-start a renewed program. There are still many benefits beyond muscle growth that you can only get from a more traditional workout and that you don’t want to miss out on.
