Sculptra
Sculptra
Sculptra is not technically a dermal filler, but rather an injectable used to restore volume and youthfulness to the face and body. Instead of using hyaluronic acid (HA), Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a type of collagen stimulator. Like HA, PLLA is an acid that also occurs naturally in the body, although Sculptra uses a synthetic version of PLLA.
Sculptra does not offer immediate results because it is a collagen kick-starter, not a filler. Some clients want an all-natural look and approach to volume restoration and creation, in which case Sculptra can be a fantastic fit. The results appear in the days and weeks following the injection, with full results taking about six months to be fully appreciated. You can also expect the results from Sculptra to last up to two years, much longer than dermal fillers. It is not permanent because we simply don’t keep our collagen indefinitely. We produce less collagen as we age, but Sculptra is a means of telling the body to produce more—at the exact spot where we want it. You can use Sculptra anywhere on the face as well as the tops of the hands and buttocks.

Many clients need a number of Sculptra vials to achieve the look they want. Your exact number of vials or injections will vary, and the Parson Skin Center expert injector helping you will provide a customized plan just for you.
For those who have received dermal filler injections before, Sculptra injections feel very similar. The treatment area is cleansed, a topical anesthetic may be applied for your comfort, and multiple injections with a small needle delivers Sculptra to the target site. You can immediately get back to your daily activities without any need for downtime. Some very light swelling may occur, but this does not interfere with your daily routine.
You can increase your comfort after Sculptra injections using a cold pack for 24 hours post-injection. Your injector may recommend that you massage the area for up to five days after the treatment. As always, it’s important to avoid excess UV light and sun exposure, but this is especially true for those with sensitive skin who might see some mild redness after Sculptra injections.

Maybe! Sculptra is often categorized as a dermal filler even though that isn’t quite what it is. If you’re looking for the most natural results possible and would prefer your body to create the natural volume you’d like, Sculptra might be for you. If you’re looking for instant results and the ability to more precisely dictate results, you might be better matched with an HA dermal filler.
Sculptra can also be used alongside HA dermal fillers and with other complementary treatments such as Botox or Dysport. It is such a gentle and subtle option that harnesses your body’s own healing powers and collagen production that it can be a great option to add-on to other services, or a fantastic standalone procedure.
