The Importance of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons
With so many choices available it’s more important than ever to make sure you are making the right decision when you choose your plastic surgeon. As a surgeon board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Parson obviously values that qualification. But it’s important to know what the certification means and how it affects you as a patient, wherever you seek plastic surgery procedures.
Here is a quick overview:
- Board Certification equates to training, education, and unparalleled experience
- Board certification through the American Board of Medical Specialties demonstrates a physician’s exceptional expertise in a particular specialty and/or subspecialty of medical practice.
The American Board of Plastic Surgery awards its board certification through an extensive process that requires completion of an accredited plastic surgery residency program followed by a period of practice experience and rigorous written and oral examinations. Dr. Parson is not only fully certified by this process but he achieved his certification in the first year of his private practice in Scottsdale. Additionally, not only is he Board Certified in Plastic Surgery, but he was also certified in General Surgery during his training. This gives our patients the utmost confidence that their surgeon will be capable to handle any and all issues that might arise.
There are other medical boards that claim to provide board certification to physicians; however, the requirements, testing and maintenance of credentials may not be as rigorous as the ABMS. Be sure to check the credentials of any surgeon you are considering.
