08 Aug 3 Things Nobody Tells You about Liposuction
Liposuction, or “lipo,” is by far one of the most well-known and popular cosmetic surgeries. It’s always been in high demand at Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center, and with good reason. Liposuction is the only way to immediately and permanently remove targeted fat, allowing skilled experts like “Top Doc” Dr. Parson to contour and shape the body to a natural-looking ideal. However, as popular as Scottsdale liposuction is, there are still a lot of things people don’t know about it.
What you can expect from liposuction
You should learn everything you need to know about lipo during a personalized consultation, and patients at Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center are always well-informed after their meeting. However, here are some of the top things many people don’t know about liposuction:
- The results are immediate—kind of. One of the first things people want to know is how quickly they’ll see results after surgery. Yes, the unwanted fat is completely removed during the procedure. However, the numbing agent that is used combined with general swelling from the minor trauma can make the area look a little “puffier.” You’ll see stunning, dramatic results immediately after surgery, but might need to wait a week or two to see the full results.
- You can expect bruising. Liposuction seems like a relatively non-invasive surgery, but it’s still surgery. Some people bruise easier than others, and some people have more areas liposuctioned than others. Bruising can be black and blue, and understandably uncomfortable, for a few weeks post-surgery. Don’t worry, it goes away just like any other bruise.
- You might need “lipo massage.” Depending on how much fat you have removed, a “lipo massage” might be recommended for a few days or weeks post-procedure. This is a special kind of massage that encourages the fat and skin to “rebound” so that you achieve the absolute best results possible. It’s not recommended for all patients and varies on a case by case basis.
